Sustainable Fashion
Sustainable Fashion hits the catwalks in Copenhagen Denmark. Designers show fashions made from post-consumer content. Trashy? Hardly. According to the design student Karin Eggert, people have to get used to materials made from recycled things and the word sustainability in fashion. She was one of the participants in the Innovating sustainable Fashion Show where design students from Denmark were competing on their ability to combine corporate social responsibility and fashion in an innovative design. Green is the new black!

Know Your Enemy
Another insightful video from NATO TV regarding the war in Afghanistan. We figure that the Afghan Army is more likely to bring stability to Afghanistan than the Iraqi Army will bring to Iraq. Why? Because the Afghans are less likely to cut and run than the Iraqis. The Afghans fought off the Russians, while the Iraqis are notorious for surrendering.

Solar-powered Hybrid Ferry
Hong Kong waters will soon be home to four new solar-powered hybrid ferries being built by a local shipyard using a design and expertise provided by an Australian company called Solar Sailor. The vessels are being purchased by the Hong Kong Jockey Club as part of a HK$350 million (US$45 million) drive to make the city more environmentally conscious, but are also seen as a way to help the world chart a course toward a future where green technology makes good business sense. And they are very stylish, futuristic, and high-tech cool!

Rotavirus Deaths Way Down in Nicaragua
Good news! Vaccines provided by the UN, the WHO, GAVI, and charitable NGO’s have dramatically decreased the number of rotavirus deaths in children in Nicaragua.
In young children, rotavirus disease is characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and severe dehydration. Death is caused by dehydration due to rotavirus infection, not by the virus itself. Diarrheal disease caused by rotavirus is the second leading cause of death worldwide in children under 5 years of age.
(The leading cause of death worldwide in children under 5 years of age is Malaria. It kills one child every 30 seconds. That’s the bad news.)
